My Horror Clown Style 2024
In this new Halloween-inspired article, I will describe this horror clown look I created for October 2024.

A Dark Twist on Fashion and Identity
My Horror Clown Style 2024
The Joker did not inspire me, as I haven't watched the new film yet. There have been so many bad reviews that I may not watch it at all, and I am not a fan of that genre. However, the makeup I did was just quick for a start to my October Halloween month!
My ideas come from my mad, creative brain. When writing or being expressive, it just flows, and I knew that in creating this look, I wanted to be more expressive and show the darker side of myself, which I don't usually get to when it comes to work or social media content. The horror clown style I had done is not just about dressing up to scare; it's an art form that blends goth, punk, and macabre elements into an aesthetic ranging from subtle to overtly grotesque.

Trousers
I bought these trousers for comfort while going through my AN treatment, as nothing fitted me anymore. That said, when doing my makeup, I immediately knew which trousers could look extremely impressive with this vibe! These trousers are from Motel; you can find them on Asos or the Motel's website by clicking the link I've put in. If you are styling your clown, look for Halloween; why not try a pin strip number like I did to give it more fun-fare vibes?

Inspiration For This Look
The inspiration I used for this horror blood lust sad clown originates from the first famous depiction of an evil clown, Edgar Allan Poe's 1849 short story Hop-Frog, where a jester exacts revenge gruesomely. However, it was cinema that genuinely cemented the horror clown archetype. Stephen King's "It" introduces the world to Pennywise, a murderous entity in the guise of a clown. Tim Curry's chilling portrayal in the 1990 miniseries adapted from King's novel solidified the idea of the "evil clown." Now we see the clown 'Art' on the Rise and his terrifier movies. Art is a maniac clown with no filter. He was terrifying the streets and setting his sights on specific individuals to cause mayhem and gore.

Why A Clown?
The images I have captured are eerie yet captivating. I am sitting on a derelict swing, exuding a grotesque look with a sense of defiance. With my leather jacket, tattooed hands cradling my pale face smeared with blood-red lips, and my haunting clown makeup, I tried to create a powerful visual that taps into deep-rooted fears and fascination with clowns. This look is more than a costume; it's a statement, a visual representation, an identity, and a twisted take on beauty.
Top
I've had this top for quite a while and style it often with more of a 90s grunge look. It fitted so perfectly with what I was going for. I'm pleased that it is all tied together the way it is. If you are looking for the top I have, then click the link.

The Clown Trend
Horror clown fashion is more than just a trend; it reflects the human experience. It merges fear with fascination, beauty with the grotesque, and performance with self-expression. I was trying to capture this sense of both dualities by presenting a person who, through makeup, clothing, and body art, challenged me to confront my discomfort and fascination with the unsettling.

Leather Jacket
I've had the leather jacket I used for years now. It's my "Sick Bunny" painted leather jacket from my old modelling name and brand, with a darkened palette and leather for a touch of rebellion. The clothing in my horror clown style is taken heavily from punk and goth influences. I wear a classic black leather jacket, symbolizing my tenacious fashion sense. The leather jacket I have used clashes ideally with my sinister makeup. Pairing this outfit with black and red striped trousers makes an impactful statement. My outfit is chaotic, mismatched, and intentionally unsettling, embracing my darker fashion aesthetic.

Props
If you have read any of my articles, then you know I'm a sucker for a prop when creating such an image. For this horror clown style, I went with the standard horror blood. It all worked well with a fake blood mix, water, and a creepy vibe. In fairness, I didn't want to use your standard clown balloon or any other typical clichรฉ. I wanted to create more of a raw take on this iconic look.

Depth Within The Clown Style Culture
Imagine walking through life instead of being seen, constantly watched, and judged, as if your existence is a spectacle. Dressed in bold stripes, leather, and blood-red lips, all smeared like a silent scream, yet no one seems to hear you. You're treated like a clown, expected to entertain, to be a walking contradiction of joy and terror, a figure too odd to be taken seriously. My exaggerated makeup hides pain, but no one looks beyond the mask. They laugh at the wrong things, missing that your grotesque beauty is a statement of rebellion, a twisted art form, a mirror to their discomfort. You're left holding the image they want you to be, as if life is your circus and everyone else is merely a spectator. But deep down, it's not about them; it's about owning that chaos and embracing the part of you that refuses to blend in, even if they never stop treating you like a clown.

My Clown Makeup
The makeup I've done expresses inner darkness in the horror clown aesthetic. My clown makeup is minimalist yet practical in my images, with sharp black lines extending from my eyes, distorting the natural expression into something disturbing. My exaggerated red lips, smeared with fresh blood, imply violence and insanity, turning a traditionally comedic sad clown into a symbol of chaos and disorder. Using this makeup look, I wrapped my facial features to evoke fear and a sense of something more sinister.
