In my first blog post of 2024, I'll tell you all about how I spent my birthday at the Dalmeny Park Hotel.

My Birthday Stay At Dalmeny Park Hotel

I have never made a birthday post really, so I thought I'd finally write a blog post this year. As my birthday is on January the 1st! I don’t really get to do anything I would like to or everywhere is closed, booked up, or friends and family have other plans. So this year, Adam took me to Dalmeny Park Hotel for my birthday dinner and a night of champagne, whisky and fun.

The Hotel

This was such a great choice and a beautiful little location in Scotland. Situated in Barrhead, the hotel sits itself in a rural area. However, you would never know it was there! As we pulled up it was all lit up with Christmas decorations and filled with twinkling trees, beautiful flowers and a warm homely vibe. Sparkling Christmas lights and welcoming staff tending to all our needs, this was such a lovely birthday idea; just perfect for me in every way. All inside the reception area were amazingly decorated Christmas trees, really bringing in that Christmas cheer vibe.

The Room

Upon entering the room (110) on the second floor, the staff had ensured it was in perfect condition for me getting there. The view from the room looked over the pergola outside, which in the welcome pack stated that many people get married here! It lights up outside at night and there are no views of major roads or any other obstructions to ruin the country side look the Dalmeny has to offer. The room itself has its own heating system too, so you can apply just the right temperature to suit yourself. The room contained a detailed welcome pack with a tray of all sorts on such as, a kettle, coffee, teas, hot chocolate and more; perfect for those guests that like to have their own.

My Birthday Surprise

Knowing I’d rather keep it personal and out of the publics eye, it was such a great choice to spend the night here. The Hotel was just lovely and the staff had been told it was my birthday and laid out a little special surprise for me in the hotel bedroom for me arriving - this was so cute! A bottle of bottega chilling on ice with two glasses and a little selection of cakes on a plate with the writing in chocolate saying "Happy Birthday". This was subtle and a lovely idea for any birthday guests staying at the Dalmeny.

Birthday Dinner

After settling into the hotel room and having a few drinks, I got ready for dinner and we headed down to the restaurant area, we were seated and asked what drinks we would like. We both ordered a pink pornstar which included a shot of prosecco. Every year on my birthday I take a shot and toast to my cousin Gary, who unfortunately died on my birthday many years ago; so I do this in honour of him every year. Once our drinks came we were ready to order some food. As a starter we had the tempura chicken -  A nice easy starter to get warmed up for your main course. We both picked the baked fillet Scottish salmon, this comes with leek and white cream, potatoes and seasoned vegetables. It was the right choice as it didn't make you feel bloated after or heavy on your stomach. For dessert I picked the milk chocolate and seville orange torte with rich sauce and Adam had the chef's cheesecake of the day with vanilla whipped cream. We had the dessert brought up to the hotel room so we could burst open the bottle of champagne and celebrate.

Breakfast

The next morning for my breakfast, the staff had asked us to fill out a form of what we would like to have. We picked a croissant, cheese and a nice piece of ham to go with it. They did give us the option of having a full English breakfast, however, I can't eat a lot in the morning and sometimes I even skip that meal of the day. Being a massive coffee lover, I had asked for a nice coffee to go with my breakfast. They gave me a tray with a full coffee pot and a side of milk - I'm easily pleased really (hahaha). I couldn't manage much of the cheese, so of course Adam had a little of mine too! He's a huge cheese lover! Adam ordered a side of toast with his breakfast and when I couldn't manage anything from my plate I stole a piece of his toast instead!

Final Say

All in all, it was a lovely time and stay at the Dalmeny Park Hotel for my birthday this year. A huge thank you to Adam for arranging this thoughtful surprise for my 29th birthday!
