Haggerston Caravan Holiday Park

Embracing Nature At Haggerston Caravan Park
Nestled amidst the stunning Northumberland countryside, Haggerston Caravan Park is an oasis for nature enthusiasts and families seeking outdoor escapades. This guide explores the park's rich natural beauty and diverse outdoor activities, making it a captivating destination.

Arrival & First Impressions
Located near Berwick-upon-Tweed, Haggerston Caravan Park greets visitors with expansive green landscapes, tranquil lakes, and woodlands buzzing with wildlife. As you settle into your accommodationโbe it a cosy caravan or a lakeside lodgeโyouโll immediately sense the parkโs connection to nature.

Nature Trails & Woodland Walks
Discover scenic trails winding through lush woodlands and open meadows. Families can embark on leisurely walks or invigorating hikes, encountering diverse plant life and perhaps spotting deer, rabbits, and a variety of birds. It is worth taking a walk around and seeing what this place has to offer. While you are there, you will be able to spy all the different types of bird life around the park. Maybe even get some snaps like I did!

Boating On The Lakes
Rent pedal boats or kayaks and glide across serene lakes, surrounded by reeds and waterfowl. Itโs a peaceful way to enjoy the parkโs aquatic beauty while engaging in gentle exercise. Once again, we booked a boat slot to get on the water and see all the swans and ducks. We did this the last time we visited here a few years ago. Isaac enjoyed this so much. Last time I drove him under the fountain, and everyone got soaked. It was so much fun and everyone was laughing. A great memory from doing this before. This time, it was just a nice, chill, sunny drive through the water.

Bird Watching
The park is a haven for birdwatchers. Bring binoculars and a camera to observe species like swans, herons, and kingfishers thriving in their natural habitat. This guy let me get so close to him and even started showing himself off for me, and I got some great shots of him!
Cycling Adventures
With designated cycling paths, families can explore the park on two wheels. Pack a picnic and discover hidden spots perfect for a family rest amidst nature. You can book a slot for a two or four-person bike to drive around the park. We did this, and of course, I was the driver again. This is always so much fun doing this. We were even stopped on the road and blocked by a huge flock of geese just taking up the whole road!
Horse Riding
The on-site stables offer horse riding experiences through picturesque trails. Whether youโre a beginner or experienced rider, itโs a unique way to connect with the landscape. I don't actually agree with this as an activity they offer. When I was driving the family round the park, we saw them, and they did not look in the best shape at all.
Swimming
Great for the kids as they get to play around with balls and floats with the other children. Isaac said the water was cold at first, but when he started swimming, it heated up. Unfortunately, I do not think it's great for the adults. There was an accident with a ball, and the person got really hurt, so maybe keep an eye on your surroundings even as you are enjoying some pool time.
Outdoor Play Areas
Natural-themed playgrounds with climbing structures, swings, and sandpits allow children to play freely in the fresh air, fostering a love for the outdoors. Make sure the weather is better than the week we had. The storm had seemed to calm down when we got there. However, the first few days were still a little hectic. It did pick up, and Isaac managed to have some outdoor fun even on the massive bouncy castle with all the children. Once the weather got better, we didn't stay in long. So it is worth the kids getting to go to the play areas when the weather is nice.

Archery
A great activity to get them involved in! Safety measures that were put in place put my mind at ease over anyone getting hurt. The coach we had seemed upbeat, bright, alert, and ready to have some fun. I again had those proud mother moments as Isaac was like a duck to water with this! He even won the pizza challenge for his team in the end. A great sport and one I am so glad he did for himself. Be aware, though, that adults and the kids are mixed during this, so they will be playing one another in the games too.

Rifle Shooting
Isaac had been looking forward to this one, as when he went on his residential trip with the school, he got to try this out and instantly loved it. I'm so happy for him, he got to do this again so soon, as he really enjoyed it. I was so proud when I saw that he was the only one who had hit a bullseye that day. He was winning over this activity for sure. I think I'll need to take him to do this more often.

Wildlife
Haggerston Park, nestled in the heart of East London, is a surprising haven for urban wildlife. Amidst its lush greenery and carefully maintained habitats, visitors can spot a variety of bird species such as woodpeckers, robins, and starlings flitting among the trees. The pond area attracts waterfowl, including ducks and moorhens, while dragonflies and damselflies dart gracefully over the water's surface during warmer months. The park's diverse plant life also provides shelter for small mammals like squirrels and hedgehogs. Insects, including bees and butterflies, thrive in the pollinator-friendly flower beds, highlighting the park's role as an essential urban refuge for biodiversity.

Isaacs Thoughts
Isaac's thoughts on Haggerston were, and quote, "amazing". When asked, he particularly talked about the activities he had done and how fun they were. He loved all the snaps that we took along this adventure and seemed to have such a blast. I definitely think this place is great for kids and not really adults. It's a great place for kids to meet new friends and have fun with social interactions.

Final Say
If I am being perfectly honest, I cannot stand caravans. (ahah) However, since I have a child, it is all about him having fun, and I do not want to ruin that. So for the kids' sake, take your children on a dreaded Caravan holiday and join in on the fun. It may surprise you, even if your opinion is like mine, and you can only do a caravan holiday once in a while. Make the best while they are young.
